Parents in the community often ask, when should my child visit the orthodontist? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic exam at age 7. By this time, the adult (“6-year-old”) molars have typically erupted, and the doctor can evaluate the bite and any significant differences between the upper and lower jaws. Some children can greatly benefit from treatment at this time to help guide future growth and development. For those who do not need an early phase of orthodontic treatment, the practice offers complimentary periodic evaluations to closely monitor growth and development. These visits, often completed virtually for your convenience, help to identify and plan for future treatment when all or nearly all of the permanent teeth have erupted.
