A letter meant to stay private, a truth that was never supposed to come to light, a life he never imagined possible.Evan Hansen is on the verge of getting the one thing he’s always desired, a chance to truly belong. Winner of six Tony Awards, Dear Evan Hansen is a deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical for anyone who’s ever felt alone in a crowded room.

The Arden Theatre Company is thrilled to bring the Tony Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, to the stage beginning May 21. Running through July 5,  the final production of the Arden's 2025/26 season, Director Terrence J. Nolen brings a fresh urgency and a striking visual approach to one of the defining musicals of the past decade.

Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen follows a high school senior whose attempt to belong leads to a lie that grows beyond his control. Featuring songs like “Waving Through a Window” and “You Will Be Found,” the musical continues to resonate for its portrayal of loneliness, visibility, and the pressure to be seen.

Co-conceived with Jorge Cousineau, the reimagined staging for the production leans into the digital world at the heart of the story, using projections and screens to blur the line between real life and online spaces where identity, connection, and misinformation can quickly spiral out of control. The result is a staging that doesn’t just tell the story but visually embodies how quickly narratives can take on a life of their own online.
