The Bala Cynwyd Library has served Lower Merion residents for over 100 years. In fact, the library celebrated its centennial anniversary in 2015. In May 2013, the library completed an extensive renovation project as part of Building for the Future: The Campaign for Lower Merion Libraries.
The newly renovated Bala Cynwyd Library is equipped with a state-of-the-art geothermal temperature control system, expanded meeting spaces, a Tutor Room, and a new Young Adult Room. The Children’s Room on the upper floor was also expanded and has become a great attraction for young readers in the community, drawing hundreds of attendees to children’s events and regular story times.
Unique among the Lower Merion Library System, Bala Cynwyd holds extensive collections of Judaica and musical scores, and hosts Sunday concerts, the Great Books discussion series, and other special programs. The library also manages a book sale, which is supplied in great part by donations from the community.
Bala Cynwyd Library continues to thrive with the support of the Lower Merion community.
