The completely renovated Penn Wynne Library reopened on March 20, 2016 to the delight of our patrons. The 1608 square foot addition brought amazing windows, a first floor meeting room, expanded work spaces and a cheerful, expanded, children’s room.
The 1960’s renovation saw the installation of central air conditioning and the latest in library technology-a Gaylord charging machine to check out books. In 1980 another expansion was dedicated and a greatly expanded children’s room was added and the circulation desk was moved into the center room of the building. In January 2015 the library closed for a 14 month complete renovation and redesign of the library that added 1608 square feet to the library’s footprint. The new skylights and glass enclosed porches in both the children’s and adult areas brought in much needed sunlight. New carpeting, paint and shelving improved the whole building. A handicapped accessible meeting room and expanded seating and work spaces throughout the library makes it a beautiful, welcoming community hub. The Penn Wynne Library had a grand reopening party on March 20, 2016, attended by hundreds of excited library users who could not wait to see their wonderful new neighborhood library.
